Registering with GeM allows businesses to access several government tenders and procurement opportunities. Indeed, these work within the GeM framework with sellers and buyers directly for government departments, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and other organizations.
This makes for easier doing between the two parties, to quote or supply goods and services through the use of the online process, which is also transparent enough to reduce any intermediary. Government procurement is rendered a lot easier through the GeM platform.
GeM has given a national marketplace to the seller, where one can reach a vast number of government buyers. Therefore, this will increase visibility, which eventually opens up expansion opportunities across different geographies in India.
Procurement is indeed becoming clearer with the standard processes and digital. Documentation is made in that one prevents corruption and processes procurement faster.
One of the advantages GeM goes with is timely payments. Government pays the sellers through GeM and assures quick payments to them, which ultimately lessens the financial pressure on businesses.
GeM has removed the middlemen from the tendering process and has stream-lined the entire process of procurement, thereby indirectly saving a large amount of cost of doing business.
GeM provides a special opportunity for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise. It reserves some percentage of Government Procurement specifically for these enterprises to encourage participation.
The whole process for registering on GeM can be done online and is simple. Sellers manage their products, service, and bids via the GeM.
Registered sellers will get automatic notifications for tenders as well as opportunities that are concerned with them.
TGeM has also support and assistance for registered sellers through a helpdesk, training, and online assistance to enable them to manage the platform optimally.
The FSSAI has a no-nonsense policy on food production and processing as specified in sections 50 to 65 of the FSSAI, Act 2006. These sections deal with a number of crimes related to food safety issues, making it imperative for people to follow them in order not to face legal repercussions. One of the major offenses would be selling food without having an FSSAI license for which one can face imprisonment along with heavy fines. There are other forms of offenses such as misleading labeling, adulteration of food products, neglecting safety standards, expired products, and so on that are explicitly governed and have penalties. The statutes laid down by FSSAI are entailed in legal obligations and are also very important for the public health that ensures the integrity of any food supply chain.
